The excursion includes a visit to the Gold Museum, one of the richest museums on the planet. Giant masks, tiaras, bracelets, ritual figurines and symbols of power made of the purest gold have come to us from the pre-Columbian era, when gold was considered the material embodiment of the creative energy of the sun. Then take the funicular to the Montserrate hill, which is located at an altitude of 3200m above sea level. From there you will have an amazing view of Bogota. At the top of the hill is the world famous monastery of San Vincente (XVII century), to which serpentine stairs lead. Early in the morning we will leave the city of Bogota and head towards the Guatavita Lagoon, located at an altitude of 3100 meters above sea level, 57 km from Bogota. This lagoon is one of the most famous lagoons of pre-Columbian culture, as a legendary rite was staged there in Eldorado, which took place every time a new cacique ascended the throne, and consisted of the new naked chief entering the lagoon on a raft to plunge into its waters. At the same time, the subjects threw gold figurines called "Tunjos". For this reason, the lagoon has been the subject of numerous dives to salvage the supposed treasures hidden beneath its waters. After visiting the lake and getting acquainted with the history, we continue our journey for an hour and a half in the direction of the population of Zipaquirá. After visiting the famous and beautiful Catedral de Sal, completely carved out of salt and the only one in the world located 180 meters below sea level, you will have time to stroll and buy many souvenirs in this colorful and typical Colombian village. We will have the opportunity to explore the impressive Castillo San Felipe de Barajas, which dates back to the 17th century. In addition, you can be amazed by a tour of the old churches and famous monuments of Cartagena de Indias. We will visit one of the best tourist destinations in Colombia, El Cerro de la Popa and the monastery that bears its name, from where we can have panoramic view of the entire city.
