Welcome to our exciting excursion to the southern regions of Georgia. We will go to an altitude of more than 2 thousand meters above sea level, where the beautiful Lake Paravani is located. According to legend, it was here in the 4th century that Saint Nino crossed the border of Georgia, carrying with her a cross made of grapevine and the Christian faith. In the village of Poka (Foka) on the shore of the lake, on the initiative of Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II, a convent was founded where seven nuns live and work. They are restoring the culture of cheese making and creating amazing icons using cloisonné enamel and Byzantine mosaics. We will meet the nuns and learn about the labors of their hands in this harsh land. Then our path will lead us to the southern territories of Georgia to get acquainted with the Golden Age of the country. Not far from the southern border of the Georgian kingdom, in the 12th century, King George III ordered the cave city-monastery of Vardzia to be carved into the rock, which was fortified by his daughter, the great Queen Tamara. The earthquake of 1283 exposed most of the caves, and during the tour you will see refectories, storerooms, secret passages and an underground lake. We will spend the night at the hospitable family hotel Almi in the city of Akhaltsikhe, where you can enjoy a cozy atmosphere and delicious Georgian cuisine.

In the afternoon we will go to the west of the country, to the small and cozy city of Kutaisi, where we will spend the night in the hospitable city hotel Ponte. Here you will relax after a busy day, feel warmth and comfort, enjoy delicious food and communication with local residents.
