Arrival at the station, from where we set off through the jungle to the top of the Corcovado hill. There are breathtaking views of the Tijuca forest on both sides of the road. At the top of Corcovado Hill, at an altitude of 710 m above sea level, rises the symbol of Rio - the statue of Christ the Redeemer (38 m), which was erected in 1931. The observation deck offers a breathtaking panorama of the metropolis and its surroundings: the bridge in Niteroi, Guanabara Bay, the Botanical Garden, the world's largest Maracana stadium, Sugar Loaf and much more. In the afternoon you will have an excursion to the Rocinha favela (4 hours in a group with an English-speaking guide). Once upon a time, soldiers from Bahia fought with the royal detachment on the hill where the favela tree stood. After the war, survivors came to Rio de Janeiro to demand payment. They settled on Providence Hill and remained there to live. They named it favela hill in memory of their battle. There are narrow, dirty streets winding along them, along which stinking ditches stretch. There are 700 favelas in Rio. It's not just thieves and drug dealers who live in favelas. There are technicians and employees here, and you can even rent a room. You can get here with the permission of the local godfather. The police don't come here. On the narrow streets there is a lively street trade. There is also a free market for food and handicrafts. It has its own internal laws. By jeep you will travel through the areas of Rocinha and return to the hotel.
