Robert Becomes the First AI Agent That Runs a TMC — Plus Automatic Rebooking, Car Rentals and Editable Memory

TL;DR: Robert, the AI agent inside Travel Code, now runs travel management company (TMC) operations from a chat: order analytics, the queue of orders that need attention, and routine order work such as merging, renaming and editing — with the same permissions a person has on the site. In the same release Robert learned to rebook disrupted flights on its own when a company allows it, to search car rentals, and to let every user see and edit what it remembers about them.

The first AI agent that runs a TMC

Most AI in corporate travel is built for the traveler: a chat window that finds a flight. The people who keep a travel program running — the travel desk and the TMC — still work in grids and reports. Starting today, Robert works for them too.

  • Analytics in chat. “How many orders did this client have in October?” Robert answers with totals and statuses for one company or for every client the user can see.
  • What needs attention. Orders waiting for confirmation, cancellations in progress, overdue payments — one question, one list.
  • Order work in a sentence. Merge duplicate orders, rename them, update supplier costs and booking references.

Robert acts with the user’s own login, so it can never see or change more than that person can on the site. Travelers and regular employees don’t get these tools at all. Every change is shown as a card with the old and the new value — for a cost change, with the effect on margin — and runs only after the user confirms in a separate message. The order history records it as “Robert (AI assistant) on behalf of” the person who asked.

Rebooking disrupted flights, when the company says so

Companies choose how far Robert may go when a booked flight is delayed or cancelled: just tell the traveler, find options, hand the case to a travel agent, or — new — rebook automatically. At that level Robert books the best alternative within the company’s rules (in policy, under the price cap) for the same travelers, holds it until payment, cancels the original only when that is free, and tells the traveler and the booker what changed. Anything it can’t finish on its own goes to a travel agent with full context. Each employee can pick their own level, never above the company’s.

All the content, one agent

Robert searches the full Travel Code supply worldwide — GDS and NDC fares, direct and low-cost carriers, dozens of bedbanks, rail, transfers, visas and airport lounges — and now car rentals too, with the company’s corporate discount codes applied. It books from the same results travelers see on the site, and it works on every page of the platform, in Slack, Microsoft Teams and Telegram, and inside ChatGPT and Claude through our MCP server.

You decide what Robert remembers

A new “What Robert knows about you” card shows every fact Robert has learned about a user. People can edit or delete any of them, wipe everything, and add their own standing instructions — “always aisle seats”, “answer in English”. Instructions add context; they never override company rules or the confirmation step.

Built to be trusted

  • Nothing is booked, changed or cancelled without a clear yes — except automatic rebooking, which a company has to switch on.
  • Same access as the site: a traveler sees their own trips, a director their company, TMC staff their clients.
  • Prices and availability always come from a live search, never from memory; when Robert can’t check something, it says so.
  • Every action is in the order history.

Everything above is live today for Travel Code customers and partner TMCs. TMC and travel desk teams can try Robert on their own clients right away; new customers can book a demo. Read more about all six Travel Code agents at travel-code.com/ai-agents.
