This city is associated with the mafia and gangsters. Meanwhile, Chicago is one of the architectural cities in the USA. Five of the 10 tallest buildings in the States were built here. And besides amazing high-rise buildings, there are many interesting places here. We tell you where to go, what to try and where to stay to feel the rhythm of Chicago.

The University of the Arts Chicago not only educates young talent, but also houses a huge collection of works by contemporary authors. It contains works by almost all artists of the 20th century - Renoir, Monet, Picasso, Hopper, Van Gogh and many others. In addition, you can see many American masterpieces known throughout the world, for example, the painting “American Gothic” by Grant Wood.

And for literature fans there is the Museum of American Writers. Here are Hemingway, and McCarthy, and Plath, and Didion, and many others. There is an area for children and various sections in which you can try something, for example, typing on a typewriter.

Don't forget to visit the public Millennium Park. The famous installation “Cloud Gate” by British artist Anish Kapoor, resembling a giant drop of mercury, is worth seeing with your own eyes.

The best way to explore the city in a short time is to go on a bike ride with Bobby's Bike Tours. Their routes include not only interesting and unusual places, but also food establishments.

Another option is to take a short cruise along the Chicago River, during which you will definitely see the main attractions. It crosses the entire city in a winding line, and then flows into Lake Michigan.

About an hour from Chicago there is an interesting Mexican town called Pilsen. Here you'll find gorgeous taquerias, Mexican bakeries with piñatas hanging from the ceiling, amazing street art featuring Frida Kahlo and the brilliant Museum of Mexican Art.

The best pizza in Chicago can be found at two places: Lou Malnati's Pizzeria and Giordano's. But the main thing in this city is hot dogs. They are special here! There are seven toppings in total, ranging from neon green relish to pepper, celery and yellow mustard. And no ketchup! The best places with an American atmosphere are Superdawg Drive-In and Wrigleyville Dogs. A larger selection of cuisines can be found at the Time Out Market. Be sure to try burgers at Big Kids and drinks at Goa Bar. The Italian-American restaurants are also worth visiting. For example, Avli On The Park is a great option in the Greek style.
