A thousand elephants carried white marble for construction. Merchants from Tibet, Persia and Russia sent gems to decorate it. A floral ornament made of jasper, agate and malachite, opal and obsidian, and mother-of-pearl, skillfully inscribed in the perfect symmetry of the snow-white palace, leaves a feeling of lightness and weightlessness.
