Excursion tour "Expedition Cruise: Under the Northern Lights Dome"

In the afternoon we board the expedition ship Sea Spirit. In the evening we go out to sea, passing a picturesque bay. We may see our first whales (humpback and minke whales are the most likely sightings).

Our ship is heading towards East Greenland. Experts in the region give fascinating lectures about the peculiarities of the Arctic nature. The captain's bridge is also open to you - there you can listen to stories about the crew's sea adventures. Seals, polar bears and whales periodically appear overboard.

Our plans include exploring the largest and northernmost national park on the planet - Northeast Greenland Park, as well as the largest system of Scoresby fjords on the planet. Both of these places are known for the most beautiful landscapes in Greenland and the entire planet. This part of Greenland contains the highest mountains and the most beautiful icebergs in the Northern Hemisphere. The expanses of Northeast Greenland Park are home to polar bears, musk oxen, and reindeer. Another unique feature of these places is the contrasts of landscapes and extravaganza of colors. The autumn tundra is covered with red, yellow, green grasses and flowers. Nearby rise the “striped” mountains characteristic of East Greenland, where different rocks and colors stand out in layers. Not far from the coast, huge icebergs flicker blue. We will also see traces of the winter houses of the ancient Thule culture. The Thule people hunted whales and used their vertebral bones to build houses. The open spaces of the tundra offer excellent hiking opportunities. We take every opportunity to land and actively explore the islands and shores of Scoresby Bay. However, as with any expedition, everything depends on weather and ice conditions. At the end of our exploration of Scoresby Bay, we will visit the only town in this region with a population of about 450 people. See with your own eyes the features of modern life above the Arctic Circle, far from the rest of the world. On all the evenings that we spend in East Greenland, we have the chance to witness the fascinating spectacle of the Northern Lights. This is the best place in the world to observe this natural phenomenon.

A day at sea will give us the opportunity to discuss our experiences with new friends. Regional experts will tell us the most important and interesting features of the places we have visited and which we still have to explore. Whale migrations can often be observed in the waters of the Denmark Strait. Perhaps East Greenland will finally delight us with one more spectacle of the Northern Lights.

We explore the Westfjords, considered the most beautiful part of Iceland. This is a remote part of the island, where only 10% of all visitors to the country reach. Here, dizzying fjords, mountain peaks, noisy bird colonies and colorful fishing villages are reliably hidden from prying eyes.

After breakfast, we leave board our expedition ship, Sea Spirit. The transfer will take you to the airport or to the city center if you plan to stay in Reykjavik. In the vicinity of Reykjavik you will discover an amazing world of geysers, waterfalls, mountains and glaciers. And in the city itself there is a large selection of excellent restaurants, museums and shops.
